Meet Karen

Welcome all.

I have been practicing yoga from about the age of 32 and an instructor since May of 2009. My emphasis has been on safety in alignment, breath integration, stamina, strength and balance in all aspects of life. It is important to me to be able to share a practice that my students and clients can take home with them to keep them grounded, centered and healthy.

More recently, I have added HeartMath (certified 11-19) coaching and Shamanic (energy medicine) practices to round out my offerings. For more information on those offerings, please click on the page of interest above.

MEET JESSICA LEARY

Jessica Leary has been teaching group fitness classes since 2013. She received her 200 RYT here in Prescott and has completed more than 50 hours of Pilates Instructor Certifications via Balanced Body and POP Pilates.

She loves the outdoors, leading yoga in the park and yoga hikes via her company “As Is in AZ” and finds providing options for all levels of fitness rewarding. Jessica offers individual yoga and Pilates sessions, private group events, and teaches at various studios here in Prescott.

At Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona during my three-day vision quest in 2021.

At the end of a six-week detox cleanse, following Alberto Villoldo’s “Grow A New Body” regimin, I spent a week at Nu Lemuria Retreat center in the beautiful Oak Creek canyons of Sedona, not far from my home in Prescott, AZ. The final three days were spent alone, in a tent with only water, next to the creek. With nobody around and only the sounds of gurgling water, hummingbirds and wildlife, I was able to find stillness in flight during my busy life. All of the drama peeled away and it was just me and the hot, naked sweat of existance in my tent, listening to nature (and occasionally the gun range not too far away).

My entire experience was life changing. I did grow a new body at the tender age of 67. Ailments I had before the detox dissappeared along with about 25 pounds. Much of that was unwanted weight loss, but necessary for the cleanse. I’ve since gained ten of those pounds back and regained lost muscle mass through my regular yoga practice.

I continue to eat clean, organic foods as much as humanly possible with an emphasis on dark green veggies and very low animal protein.

For me, it’s as or more important to eat well and let the guilt, shame and confusion around our food choices leave our daily thoughts. If my body is telling me to eat a piece of red meat, I find a good, grass finished ribeye and go for it (well…about half the steak). Although this is usually only once or twice a year, it really feels good to eat what my body wants. That being said, I don’t give in to cravings for refined sugars and processed foods. I know the deleterious effects of eating those!

I highly recommend Alberto’s books if you feel you’d like to challenge yourself to make real change in your physical, emotional and spiritual life.
