Aerial yoga isn’t really yoga in the strictest sense, but it’s a lot of fun. I became certified to teach this practice about 6 years ago and love what I can do in a hammock/silk that I can’t do in a normal yoga practice. The silk will hold and support the weight of a baby elephant!

Being supported by the silk makes inversions so much easier on my cervical spine (neck) and is much less compressive. I still get the benefits of the inversions, and can do so many more within a short period of time.

The standing poses require core strength to stay in center and it’s easy to learn. I feel like I’m being held in a cacoon when I’m sitting or lying down in the silk. I can also do floor work to strengthen my core, back and legs.
