Instructor Poem

Just one bite

In one bite I taste the sun sharing its perfect light

to invite the seed to burst through the soil.

In one bite I hear the ocean waves lapping at

the shore to share her salt and season this meal.

In one bite I feel the sensation on my tongue of a

perfect alchemy of flavor dancing down into my body.

In one bite I taste the soil that gave birth to the seed,

the plant and the tree that were to become my sustenance.

In one bite I feel the sensation of hands that lovingly

touched my food before it arrived on my plate.

In one bite I give gratitude for the hands, the seed,

the soil and elements that came together, joining

in their chorus of life to give me just one bite.
